People Magazine is reporting on its website that Kiefer Sutherland has been released from a California jail after serving 48 days on a drunken driving charge.
The report says the star of the Fox television drama 24 left jail at 12:05am Monday. And People quoted police officer John Balian as saying, “(Kiefer) looked like he was glad to be out.”
Sutherland, 41, pleaded no contest in October to drunk driving. He was sentenced to 30 days, as well as 18 days for violating probation stemming from a 2004 impaired-driving arrest.
He was granted a request to serve his time in suburban Glendale’s city jail rather than in the overcrowded Los Angeles County jail, and spent his days behind bars on laundry duty cleaning sheets and pillow cases.
Sutherland must also serve five years probation, complete an 18-month alcohol education program and attend weekly therapy sessions for six months.
