Ledger’s Masseuse Called Mary-Kate Olsen Several Times Before 911, NYPD Says

The first three calls Heath Ledger’s masseuse made after finding his unconscious body in his Manhattan apartment weren’t to 911, but to actress Mary-Kate Olsen, New York police said.
Investigators are releasing more details about the Australian actor’s death Tuesday, among them what happened after he was discovered face down in bed surrounded by bottles of prescription medication.
The masseuse, Diana Wolozin, apparently knew both Ledger and Olsen and knew they were friends, and called the actress repeatedly in California before contacting authorities. The first three calls to Olsen ranged in length from 21 seconds to more than a minute and a half, and at some point Olsen apparently called her personal security guards to check out the residence. They arrived at the same time as paramedics.
The Brokeback Mountain star was pronounced dead at the scene, and it’s believed he had expired before the masseuse made the phone calls. An autopsy conducted Wednesday came back inconclusive, and more thorough tests were expected to take a week to 10 days. Accidental overdose may be behind the star’s demise.
Ledger’s family was planning to fly in from Australia for a viewing at Manhattan’s Frank E. Campbell funeral home. Funeral details weren’t being made public.
A death notice in The West Australian newspaper called Ledger “the most amazing ‘old soul’ in a young man’s body.”
“As a close knit and very private family we have observed you so determined yet quietly traveling in your self-styled path in life,” read the notice, which the newspaper said had been submitted by Ledger’s relatives.
“Our hearts are broken.”
The actor told The New York Times late in 2007 that work on his recent films The Dark Knight and I’m Not There had been stressful and that he was taking the sleeping pill Ambien to help him get more rest.
He was nominated for an Oscar for his role in 2005’s Brokeback Mountain.
Ledger leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, Matilda, whom he had with ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams.
