Suresh Joachim: The Record-Setting Family Man

This article is more than 5 years old.
Odds are you’ve seen him at least once.
Maybe it was when he was taking part in the world’s longest dancing marathon, maybe it was bowling for longer than anyone ever has before. Maybe it was crawling for almost 57 kilometres or maybe it was rocking in a rocking chair for 75 hours.
The point is, whatever you’ve seen Suresh Joachim doing, it probably involved him setting a world record. The Mississauga man isn’t the Guinness king for nothing.
His most recent accomplishment was doing a whole lot of shaking in setting the record for longest Elvis karaoke session, something that took him almost three days in a wig and sequined suit and plentyof preparation before that.
“He was signing around the house for the past two weeks,” admitted wife Christa Joachim.
But Joachim’s latest achievement pales in comparison to the impressive career he’s put together. As a father of two without a “real” job, all he does is break world records for a living.
How? Suresh gets sponsors to support him, and in the process always tries to raise some money for children around the world with each initiative. Other than that, his inspiration is simple.
“I want to own more world records in the world, to be number one,” he admitted Saturday.
Suresh currently holds 53 world titles, but says he won’t stop until there are hundreds in his trophy case.
