MIX FM Radio Host Chris “Punch” Andrews Dies Of Lung Cancer At 43

Radio broadcaster Chris “Punch” Andrews lost his battle with lung cancer early Sunday. He was 43.  The popular host of The Saturday Night Party on MIX FM and traffic reporter for CFRB, EZ Rock and The MIX also taught communications at Vaughn Secondary School.

He started his career at Cable 10 in Aurora as an on-air host at the age of 17.

While studying radio and television at Ryerson, Andrews began working at a radio station in Newmarket, eventually leaving to take on a job as a producer at AM 640.

After three short months, he went to Prince Edward Island to take on the role of evening announcer at All-hits CFCY.

Two years later, Andrews was hired at MIX 99.9 in Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, he had asked that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and Princess Margaret Hospital.

Hundreds have already expressed their condolences at  Mixfm.com and  Facebook group: “The Chris ‘Punch’ Andrews Support Posse.”
