Jerry Seinfeld got a lucky break Saturday night: His potentially fatal car accident was “about nothing.”
He was able to walk away from the terrifying rollover and head right back to his East Hampton home.
But it could have been a lot worse. The brakes failed on the car he was driving, just as Seinfeld was approaching an intersection.
The 1967 Fiat BTM didn’t stop, so Seinfeld tried the emergency brake – no luck.
He then swerved away from an intersection, and that’s when the trouble really started.
The car flipped several times, stopping close to a nearby highway.
East Hampton Town Police Chief Todd Sarris told the New York Post that the comic’s manoeuvre “probably avoided a very serious accident.”
Seinfeld was shaken after the tumble, but was joking soon after.
“Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do,” Seinfeld said. “It is not something I plan to make a habit of.”
