Memorial Service Held For 2nd Double Murder Victim

It’s a crime that has horrified the public, mystified police and robbed two families of beloved members.  And on Thursday, the second victim of the still-unsolved double murder was buried, a day after his friend, Dylan Ellis, was laid to rest.

Hundreds of mourners packed the Rosedale Presbyterian Church to say a sad goodbye to Oliver Martin, who was just 25 when his life was cruelly snuffed away by a still-roaming gunman.

Ellis and Martin were sitting in a Range Rover parked at Niagara and Richmond Streets when someone approached and killed both men with a torrent of bullets. A woman in the backseat escaped the wrath of the killer, likely because he couldn’t see her through the vehicle’s tinted windows.

As mourners shared songs, poems, and heart-wrenching stories about Martin, investigators were at the crime scene piecing together a video that has been posted on YouTube.

“We’re going to put it out there and hopefully just try to get the people talking,” said Larry Starver of Crime Stoppers.  “That’s mainly what we’re trying to do. There’s a murderer walking amongst us and that’s what we have to concentrate on.”

Police are still trying to track down a suspect and pin down a motive for the double murder but detectives believe it may have been a carjacking gone wrong, or that the gunman was irked at the presence of two wealthy men in his neighbourhood.
