Mississauga School Placed In Lockdown After ‘Gun’ Spotted

It has become almost as routine as football games, cheerleading practice or homework – another school in lockdown in the GTA. The latest campus to shut its doors came Friday at Erindale Secondary School on Dundas St. W.  near Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga.

Police were called after several students reported seeing or hearing about a young man with a gun walking around the hallways around 10:30am. But when police arrived to check out the report, they couldn’t find anyone.

The campus was placed in lockdown just before noon as a precaution but it was lifted about an hour later after authorities found the teen at his home. Peel Police tell CityNews.ca the ‘weapon’ turned out to be a cap gun style keychain that may have looked like the real thing.

Cops want to get a closer look at the misinterpreted ‘gun’ before considering whether any charges are warranted.
