World’s Worst Boss Goes To Jail After Attacking Employee With Pitchfork

How bad is the person you work for? Whatever your answer, chances are he couldn’t possibly match this guy, who will likely win the prize as worst boss of the year – if not all time.

His name is Michael Parker and he’s not actually working at the moment. But it’s not because of the holiday season. He’s going to be in jail for the next eight months over what he did to one of his employees.

Parker was the managing director of a gardening firm in Surrey, England. He admitted that he had a temper, especially when his underlings didn’t do things exactly as he wanted. But that fuse of anger turned into dynamite when it came to one of his employees, Mark Reene.

It started last year when the 44-year-old failed to hold a log straight as Parker was trying to saw it in half. The enraged boss punched his worker numerous times in the face and then took the chainsaw he’d been using and smashed his hapless charge in the groin.

The results were so bad that Reene had to be taken to the hospital and spent a week off work.

But it didn’t stop there.

Things were peaceful for a time until the 51-year-old manager again got upset over something Reene apparently did while feeding his dogs. According to reports in the British press, he swore at him and shouted, “I’m going to kill you, you don’t deserve to breathe this air!” at his terrified employee, before punching him several times in the face and trying to gouge out his eyes.

In two other incidents, Parker cut his co-worker with a knife and again hit him in the face.

Finally, last October, came an incident that was truly the last straw.

An enraged Parker, angry over some new perceived inefficiency in Reene’s work, punched him the mouth, knocking out two teeth, and then picked up a pitchfork, charged at his victim and began stabbing the hapless man in the derriere.

Two colleagues saw what was going on and finally, almost mercifully, police were called. Parker was arrested and carted off to jail.

The court heard of the five savage attacks that took place over six months, and the judge was astounded, asking the one question you’re probably wondering, as well. Why didn’t Reene leave or call for help? And how could he keep going back to a job where he was treated so brutally?

The employee explained that after the first attack, Parker had threatened to hurt his family. And having seen the man’s temper, he was so fearful for their safety that he simply decided to take the abuse.

Defence lawyers admitted their client had gone overboard and had a tendency to become angry at workers that failed to live up to his expectations. But that didn’t play well with the judge, who convicted Parker on the charge of putting a person in fear of violence.

He’ll be spending the next eight months behind bars pondering his lapses as a boss. There’s no word if he’ll still have his old job waiting for him when he gets out or whether Reene will be there when he does.
