Cannes Film Fest Names Jury Head: Actress Isabelle Huppert

The film festival whose sandy beaches and lavish parties are know nearly as well as its fabled Palme D’Or prize has announced the jury head for the 2009 event.

French actress Isabelle Huppert will lead the judging body at Cannes, the fourth time the honour has gone to a woman in its 62 year history.

Huppert, 55, has appeared in more than 90 films and been twice-decorated at the French Riviera exhibition.

She won two trophies for best actress, the first in 1978 for her role in “Violette” and later in 2001 for “The Piano Teacher.”

These are just a selection of her awards. Check out Huppert’s impressive list of nominations and wins here.

She succeeds actor Sean Penn as jury president. The Cannes film festival will run from May 13 to 24.
