A Toronto jewellery store owner is lucky to be alive after being bound, gagged and robbed in his store.
The shelves of Draganov Fine Jewellery were cleaned out of more than $450,000 worth of gems just after 10pm Friday.
The owner was working alone in the shop near Bloor and Bathurst when a masked suspect barged in.
“Someone came from behind and knocked me with something and I fell unconscious,” described victim George Draganov. “The next thing I knew I was duct taped to one of the legs of my work table.”
Draganov and his wife have lost their life savings because the stolen one-of-a-kind jewels were not insured.
So far, no arrests have been made.
