Record Store Day Has Music Fans Spinning

Toronto’s music retailers are banding together Saturday to promote Record Store Day.
SUNRISE RECORDS (336 YONGE): Once you recover from Thursday’s (April 16) Lamb of God and Children of Bodom Pre-Record Store Day signing sessions, come back Saturday afternoon for in-store performances featuring Emma Lee, Josh Reichmann , Finger Eleven side-project Blackie Jackett Jr., Honeymoon Suite and more. Store-wide “double discount” in effect, along with limited edition RSD offerings and giveaways.
CRIMINAL RECORDS (493 QUEEN W): Rock Plaza Central and The Great Bloomers perform at 6pm and 7pm respectively. As well, there will be sales, prizes and limited edition releases.
SONIC BOOM (512 BLOOR W): From 4pm to 9pm, the basement stage will play host to Slim Twig, Lullabye Arkestra, Green Go, Hooded Fang, Gentleman Reg, Sunparlour Players and more, along with DJ Shit La Merde. Giveaways and RSD exclusives as well.
PENGUIN MUSIC (256A QUEEN W): Limited-edition Record Store Day releases and 10 percent off everything in the shop are two great reasons to descend into Penguin’s Black Market basement location.
SOUNDSCAPES (572 COLLEGE): 10 per cent off CDs, books, vinyl and DVDs, plus a selection of Record Store Day special edition releases.
