An overnight crash has sent one woman to hospital and shut down a busy Scarborough intersection for hours on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old was ejected from the vehicle by the force of the impact. The victim was wrongly identified as male earlier in the day.
It appears that an armoured car collided with a second vehicle at Kennedy Rd. and Ellesmere Rd. around 12:30am.
The force of the impact saw the heavy truck flipped onto its roof and the driver suffered multiple fractures. She was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
The passenger of the armoured vehicle and the driver of the second car received only minor injuries.
The intersection was shut down until about noon as officers investigated, but has since been reopened.
The off-limits road was a hassle for both motorists and TTC vehicles. Bus routes on both roads were diverted and Kennedy Rd bore the brunt of the damage. Buses were not running on Kennedy Rd between Lawrence Ave and Highway 401.
TTC riders were advised to take the Scarborough RT as an alternate route.
