Youths Apprehended Thanks To Off-Duty Officer

Perhaps an oversized SUV isn’t the smartest choice when trying to go unnoticed.

A York policeman on his way home noticed some youths peering into cars  near Newmarket’s Magna Centre.

When he started following them in their Hummer, they began tossing cash, credit cards and cell phones out the window. The officer called for backup and the suspects were eventually caught on Leslie, north of Stoufville Road.

Four males and one female were arrested. Police then attempted to recover the discarded goods near Mulock Drive and the 404.
