Cyclists Dodge Cinderblocks Falling From Condo Construction Site

It was an extremely close call for two cyclists Tuesday, forced to dodge pieces of cinder blocks that came crashing down to the street from more than 30 stories up.

“I heard this incredible bang, it sounded like an explosion,” recalled a witness named Matthew. “I looked up and I saw concrete blocks shattering all across the street.”

It was around 5:30pm Tuesday when a wall of cinderblocks came loose from the 34th floor of the construction site at Sherbourne near Wellesley Street East.

Two cyclists were knocked to the ground and taken to hospital though fortunately neither was seriously hurt.
