Woman Dead In Sidewalk Collision With Cyclist

A woman has died following a sidewalk collision with a cyclist.
The 57-year-old pedestrian was walking south on Kennedy Road near Sheppard Avenue on August 6.
A 15-year-old boy was biking north on the same stretch of sidewalk.
Police allege that as they approached each other, they both attempted to avoid a collision.
However, they ran into each other around 3:35pm.
The woman fell backwards, striking her head on the sidewalk.
She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics and doctors, she died in hospital on August 7 at 5:15pm.
Her name has not been released.
Charges are not expected to be laid.
Meanwhile, police are investigating another crash that has left a cyclist in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews were called to the southern entrance of Yorkdale Mall, near Dufferin Street and Glen Belle Crescent, around 5:30pm on Friday.
Police allege that a 44-year-old man was heading south on his bike on the sidewalk. Meanwhile, a Honda was allegedly running north on Dufferin.
Both the cyclist and the motorist attempted to turn into the mall entranceway. Instead, they collided.
The cyclist was rushed to hospital, where he remains.
