Bell, Telus To Offer iPhones

Starting in November, both Bell and Telus will begin to offer the iPhone to their customers.

Previously, the devices have only worked in Canada on the Rogers network.

Two models of the smartphone – the 3G and the 3GS – will be available. The news comes on the heels of Bell’s announcement that its new high-speed wireless network will also be ready across the country in November, ahead of its original deadline.

According to the company website, the network will reach speeds of up to 21Mbps and reach 93 per cent of the Canadian population.

The first iPhone was launched in Canada in July 2008 and is known for popularizing software applications like maps, games and weather.

For more than a year, Rogers was the exclusive seller of the popular iPhone.

It remains to be seen what will happen with prices as prospective customers now have three companies competing for their business.
