Police plan to charge a local MPP with leaving the scene of an accident following a collision in Brampton last week.
A 39-year-old man received minor injuries when he was struck by a car Friday evening at Torbram Road and Bovaird Drive. Peel Regional Police plan to charge Liberal MPP Kuldip Kular (Bramalea-Gore-Malton) under the Highway Traffic Act. The politician will reportedly be issued a traffic ticket with a court date.
The victim, who received cuts and bruises, was treated in hospital. Witnesses told police the driver got out of his vehicle and spoke with the injured pedestrian before leaving, according to a published report.
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty hasn’t commented on the incident.
