5-Token Limit For TTC Customers

Token hoarding has apparently kicked into high gear with a possible TTC fare hike on the horizon.
This week the transit commission told staff to limit token sales to five per person, up from last week’s 10 transit coins per customer cap.
Transit riders will likely have to put an extra quarter in the fare box come the New Year and the cost of a Metropass will jump to $126 – a $17 increase.
The TTC’s 2010 operating budget, which is facing a staggering $100 million shortfall, and a New Year fare hike, are expected to be the top items on the agenda when the commission meets for its monthly meeting on Nov. 17.
And while Toronto considers raising fees other transit systems across the GTA are freezing them.
Fares in both Mississauga and York Region will remain steady through 2010.
