Fatal shooting in Toronto Junction

Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the Junction as 29 year old Kenneth Mark .

Mark was shot in the head in the area of Dundas Street West and Gilmour Avenue near Runnymede Road around 9:40pm.

A passing TTC bus driver heard three gunshots and called police.

Paramedics and police arrived at the scene and found the victim lying on the ground on Gilmour just north of Dundas, across from a pizza and wings eatery.

Paramedics performed CPR at the scene for 20 minutes before transporting Mark to hospital in life-threatening condition.

A post-mortem examination on Wednesday confirmed that he died of a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.  

Meanwhile, witnesses are beginning to come forward. They have told police that they saw two men running north on Gilmour toward Maria Street.

Constable Tony Vella told 680News that officers remain in the area, canvassing for further witnesses and reviewing security camera footage.

The suspects are described as male, black, 20 to 30-years-old, both wearing dark clothing, at least one of them is armed.

According to investigators, Mark has no criminal record, and the motive for the murder is unclear.

This is the 62nd homicide in Toronto this year.
