Inmate has died in Toronto’s Don Jail

Toronto police say they’re investigating the death of an inmate in the city’s Don Jail.

It’s the second death of an inmate at the jail in less than two months.

Police told CTV News they were called to the jail Saturday afternoon.

Investigators are not identifying the person and aren’t revealing any circumstances surrounding the death at this time.

The Don Jail holds short-term prisoners who are generally awaiting trial or sentencing.

On Nov. 6, 32-year-old inmate Jeff Munro was beaten, police allege there was a dispute over a stolen bag of potato chips.

Three men have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with his death.
