Relatives, Canadian troops and dignitaries gathered today at CFB Trenton for the repatriation ceremony for Cpl. Joshua Caleb Baker, the latest Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan.
The body of the 24-year-old soldier arrived at CFB Trenton at 2 p.m., Monday.
His cortege then traveled along the Highway of Heroes before arriving at the coroner’s office in downtown Toronto just before 5:00 p.m.
Baker was killed on Friday during a training session in Afghanistan.
Four others were injured in the accident.
Baker’s death brings the number of Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 140 since the mission began in 2002.
