Talking About A Couple Of Cops With Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith has directed nine feature films over the last 16 years but his latest, the buddy cop comedy Cop Out starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, is his first studio production and the first he’s directed that he didn’t write. Whether that will make a difference at the box office or with critics is yet to be determined (it opens this coming Friday). One thing that is certain is that Smith is pretty psyched about the outcome of the film and that should have his legions of fans psyched as well.
CityNews.ca caught up with Smith when he was in Toronto earlier this month to speak to a sold-out audience at Roy Thomson Hall for one of his famous An Evening With Kevin Smith performances. We chatted about the process of filming action scenes, the change in title from A Couple of Dicks to Cop Out, what he thinks about Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry’s vision for The Green Hornet (which he was attached to at one point), and what is happening with his next film, Red State, and the grassroots funding he’s considering. Watch the full interview below.
Cop Out is in theatres on February 26.
