Victim Identified In East-End Murder

Police have identified a man who was fatally shot in his east-end apartment building Thursday night.

Authorities were called out just after 10pm when they found 33-year-old Kevin Williams, known as “Lex” to his friends, shot in the head on the 10th floor of 4010 Lawrence Ave. East, near Kingston Road.

Neighbours said they heard an argument and a struggle in the hallway, followed by two gunshots.

A friend told CityNews that Williams was in his apartment about five years ago when somebody fired through the door, trying to shoot him but hitting a bystander instead.

After discovering shoes in the stairwell, police believe that’s how the shooter made his escape.

No arrests have been made so far and investigators are looking to speak with anyone who was in that area between 8:30pm and 10:30pm Thursday night. Call police at (416) 808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS (8477) if you have any information.

This crime marks the 10th murder in Toronto this year and the first in almost a month.

An autopsy will be performed on Sunday.
