Independent Pharmacies Support Chains In Provincial Battle

Independent pharmacies are standing with their chain counterparts in a battle with the province.

Earlier in the month, Queen’s Park announced its plan to force drug stores to slash the cost of generic medications by at least 50 per cent.

The Independent Pharmacists Association of Ontario released a statement on Friday.

“We are all in this together – not just the pharmacy community but seniors, people with chronic illnesses like diabetes, people without doctors, and other patients who will be affected by these cuts.” said Ben Shenouda, president of IPO.

Ontario is also planning to ban allowances paid to pharmacists by generic drug manufacturers.
