Friday was the day Torontonians did their part to reverse the work of their litterbug counterparts.
Timed to coincide with Earth Week, the City’s seventh annual 20-Minute Makeover took place across the GTA. At past events, hundreds of thousands of people turned out to clean up the litter and debris that accumulates over the winter in their corner of the planet.
“The 20-Minute Makeover is a great time to come together with co-workers, students and others in your neighbourhood to help clean up our city,” said Mayor David Miller.
“I would like to thank Torontonians for showing their pride in helping to keep our city’s public spaces clean and green.”
On Saturday, as part of the mayor’s Community Clean-Up Day, community groups volunteer to clean up a park or other public space in their neighbourhood.
City workers are also doing their own three-week operational spring cleaning, which began in March because of good weather.
