Toronto residents less active than rest of Canada: study

TORONTO, Ont. – A new study released Tuesday concludes Toronto is the couch potato capital of Canada.

The report by Get Active Toronto found 57 per cent of Torontonians are inactive in their leisure time, compared to 50 per cent across Canada.

Peter, who walked up his bike outside the YMCA near Yonge and College streets before his workout, said he isn’t so sure about these findings because he thought Toronto was all about exercise.

“When you live in a city like this, with so much going on, there’s lots of stuff to do, you can always find stuff to do,” he said.

The Toronto Star reports that the number one excuse for not being active is not enough time, followed by a lack of will power.
