Canada stuck in lifelong learning rut

A new report released by the Canadian Council on Learning, showed the country has been stuck in a five year rut when it comes to lifelong learning.

Canada scored 75 on the composite learning index, the same as last year.

The survey is the world’s only statistical index of lifelong learning, and shows results for over 4,500 communities across Canada.

It makes use of statistical indicators, which not only reflect learning within school, but also in the home, at work and within the community.

The Canadian Council on Learning – a non-profit group which promotes education – said the largest improvements were in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

The country’s highest national average was 77 in 2008.
