Construction worker dies in Whitby after trench collapses

WHITBY, Ont. – A 26-year-old man has died in north Whitby after he became trapped in a trench.
It happened just before noon, Wednesday, on Gerrard Road and Town Line Road.
At the time of the collapse the construction worker was working on a foundation wall.
A specialized unit of Toronto Fire was called in to help with the rescue.
Whitby Fire officials told 680News specialized equipment is being brought in to try and recover the man’s body.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
