A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on Thursday morning.
An air ambulance was called to the Gardiner Expressway and Highway 427 area after a motorcycle apparently fell off a ramp.
The crash, which reportedly involved two motorcycles, happened around 7:30am on the QEW eastbound ramp to Highway 427 – an area where the QEW turns into the Gardiner. The bikes were apparently traveling at a high rate of speed when one fell off the ramp and landed in a grassy area beside the Gardiner exit for Sherway Gardens Road.
According to the OPP, the driver lost control and hit the cement barrier along the right shoulder of the highway. The rider and motorcycle went airborne over the barrier.
Paramedics worked on the two victims at the side of the road as they waited for an air ambulance to arrive. One of them, a 35-year-old man from Caledonia, was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
