Bono undergoes emergency back surgery

U2’s lead singer Bono has undergone emergency back surgery in Munich. The group is scheduled to play in Toronto July 3.

A statement posted on the band’s website said the singer was admitted to a specialist neurosurgery unit in a Munich hospital.

He is expected to spend the next few days there before returning home to recuperate.

A statement regarding upcoming tour dates is expected shortly.

U2 is due to play in Toronto on July 3.
