‘Diff’rent Strokes’ Star, Gary Coleman, Dies At 42

Former child star Gary Coleman has died after suffering a brain hemorrhage brought on by a fall.

The 42-year-old was reportedly conscious when he was transported to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, but later slipped into a coma. His wife, 24-year-old Shannon Price, gave permission to hospital staff to take him off life support just after noon on Friday.

Coleman was best known for his role as Arnold Jackson on the 1970s television sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” and for his character’s catchphrase, “Whatchou talking about Willis?” The series debuted in 1978 and ran for eight seasons.

Coleman had suffered from numerous health problems throughout the years including the kidney disease that stunted his growth.

His life was dogged by financial and personal troubles as well, as he reportedly burned through US$18 million over the course of his career and was convicted of punching a fan who had asked for his autograph.
