The iPad arrives in Canada today

TORONTO – The iPad has finally landed in Canada and will go on sale at Apple stores at 8 a.m., Friday.
The flagship store at the Eaton Centre is expected to draw the long lines of eager purchasers from around the GTA.
However, some stores may open without one person waiting outside after many people crossed the boarder to purchase their iPad when they went on sale in the U.S. in April.
Some customers told 680News they were not willing to face the anticipated long line ups, while some said that the price for the iPad was just not worth it.
“I’m not going to go out and spend $550 for a toy.” said one shopper at the Eaton Centre when asked if the iPad was on her shopping list.
Canadians will not be the only ones lining up today, the iPad is also being launched in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and Britain.
Shoppers mobbed Apple’s flagship store in London, England Friday, with long lines along Regent Street.
The iPad was first released in the U-S about eight weeks ago and quickly sold more than a (m) million units.
In Canada, the cheapest of six models is $549 and the most expensive is $879.
