Legendary Actor Dennis Hopper Dies

Actor Dennis Hopper, best known for his roles in legendary movies “Rebel Without A Cause” and “Easy Rider” has died following a battle with prostate cancer. He was 74.

A family friend said Hopper passed away at his Venice, California home surrounded by family and friends. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009.

Hopper had an illustrious acting career, which included two Academy Award nominations for “Hoosiers” and “Easy Rider,” along with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hopper also generated a reputation for being volatile and for abusing alcohol and drugs. Francis Ford Coppola looked past that when he cast him in “Apocalypse Now” and “Rumble Fish.”

His personal life was also turbulent. Hopper was married five times, his second marriage, to singer-actress Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, lasted only eight days.
