Fallen firefighters are honoured at Harbourfront

TORONTO, Ont. – The names of several fallen firefighters will be added to the city’s memorial honour roll today.
Five new names will join the 218 names already on the black granite memorial wall.
Firefighters around the city are expected to join the families of the fallen who died in the line-of-duty. The fallen will be remembered for their courage, compassion and service.
The service begins at 11 a.m. outside of the Harbourfront Fire Station 334, located on Queens Quay west of Toronto Harbourfront Centre.
The memorial was created on October 14, 2001. Toronto’s Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service honoured all firefighters that died while in service since 1848. A special headdress honour guard was dedicated to 2002 fallen Acting Captain Jeffery Carl Spencer, Captain Patrick Joseph Carey and Captain Douglas Lorne Storey.
The memorial service also remembered New York City firefighters that died during the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
