Toronto swimmer found dead in Espanola area lake

ESPANOLA, Ont. – The search has ended in Espanola for a missing swimmer, as OPP divers recovered the body of a missing Toronto man on Saturday afternoon.

Police were first called to Aspey Lake on Friday afternoon at around 3:30.

The man had gone snorkelling with friends and failed to resurface after slipping beneath the water.

His body was found by the OPP underwater search and recovery unit. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Sudbury.

No names have been released, as police are continuing to try and notify the man’s family.
