Hwy. 401 Crash May Be Connected To Murder Case

Police are trying to determine if a crash on Highway 401 early Tuesday is connected to the city’s latest murder.

A man was seriously hurt when he was hit by a truck on the eastbound lanes of the 401, near the 427. The man had reportedly crashed his car before the vehicle struck him.

Earlier Tuesday morning authorities discovered a woman who’d been stabbed to death in her fifth floor apartment at 390 Dixon Rd., near Kipling. She was pronounced dead at the scene around 3am. Her death marks the city’s 23rd homicide of the year.

Now authorities are trying to determine if the man involved in the collision on the eastbound lanes of the 401 is a suspect.

The man was rushed to hospital in serious condition and authorities shut down the portion of the busy highway for several hours for their investigation. The route reopened around 9:30am.

So far, the names and ages of those involved haven’t been released.
