Rob Ford Surges Ahead In Mayor Polls

With two months to go until the election, Rob Ford is surging ahead in the polls.

Roughly 32 per cent of those surveyed said they want him as Toronto’s next mayor.

George Smitherman, once neck and neck with the Etobicoke councillor, is now 11 per cent behind.

The poll was conducted by Ipsos Reid on August 21 and 22, targeting 400 Toronto voters.

Smitherman had 21 per cent of the vote, Sarah Thomson had 10 per cent, Joe Pantalone had nine per cent and Rocco Rossi came fifth with seven per cent.

The election will be held on October 25.
