Layton Endorses Pantalone For Mayor

A federal politician has thrown his support behind one of Toronto’s candidates for mayor.
On Wednesday morning, NDP leader Jack Layton announced he would be endorsing Joe Pantalone. Pantalone is currently deputy mayor under David Miller.
Layton himself is a former Toronto councillor, first elected in 1982 and serving until he left to run unsuccessfully for mayor in 1991.
Meanwhile, Layton’s son Michael is running for Pantalone’s council chair, Ward 19 in Trinity-Spadina.
A recent Ipsos-Reid poll showed Pantalone near the bottom of the pack, with only nine per cent popular support. Only Rocco Rossi had less support, with seven per cent.
