OPP steps up enforcement for upcoming long weekend

The countdown to the Labour Day weekend is on and for many this is the final weekend of the summer.
That means the OPP will be out in full force keeping a close eye on the highways and waterways to ensure this weekend is a safe one.
Provincial officers said far too many mini-vacations have turned tragic this year, with a reported 205 deaths on Ontario roads.
OPP Const. Graham Williamson told 680News that distracted and impatient drivers are a huge threat to other commuters.
“Our aim is to reduce fatalities, reduce injuries and to keep our roadways the safest in Canada,” he explained.
The OPP’s blitz will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday on the Hwy. 400 northbound.
