Crash Closes Lake Shore During Morning Rush

An early-morning crash shut down Lake Shore Boulevard for much of rush hour on Tuesday.
The three-car collision occurred at Islington Avenue just before 1am.
Traffic Services said it appears the driver of one of the cars had a medical episode. That caused his vehicle to cross over the street and collide with two parked cars. His female passenger suffered very minor injuries, but the driver was not so lucky.
He was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital in an ambulance.
The ambulance was also involved in a minor collision with a tractor-trailer.
Not only was the collision bad for cars, it also wreaked havoc on the TTC. There was no streetcar service from the Humber Loop to Browns Line. Shuttle buses were running instead. Streetcars were back in service by 8:45am.
