Toronto city councillors have begun to throw their support behind mayoral front-runner Rob Ford.
Mike Del Grande was first and Giorgio Mammoliti followed suit on Wednesday.
“I know that Rob is sincere. I don’t agree with Rob on everything, and I think that’s my right. That’s what democracy is about. For the most part, in terms of the financial side of things, his message has been constant,” Del Grande told CityNews.
“I think I’ve been frustrated downtown in terms of the spending,” the Scarborough-Agincourt representative said.
“The people that I’ve knocked doors on that are out of jobs, that are not working, and the taxes are going up,” he added.
For his part, Mammoliti said voters were looking for “absolute” change and that’s what Ford brings. Mammoliti also called City Hall’s bureaucracy dysfunctional.
Mammoliti has represented Ward 7, York West, since 1997 and is once again running for a seat on council. He initially ran for mayor but left the race on July 5.
