Morning Drivers Still Dealing With Overnight Storm

Drivers heading out for their morning commute are still dealing with the aftermath of an overnight storm.
The weather system first hit Huntsville around 7pm on Tuesday and moved through the GTA around 2am Wednesday, before continuing through south and central Ontario.
Traffic lights were out at several intersections across the city, and motorists also had to deal with debris from the storm.
In Brampton, Mayfield Road (pictured below) was completely closed because a dozen hydro poles were knocked over.
It wasn’t just drivers that felt the brunt of the storm: Lightning strikes caused power outages in homes, and felled trees caused havoc across the city.
There were also heavy winds – Environment Canada reported gusts of 100 km/h – and heavy rain to deal with.
The downpour lasted for several hours.
As for Wednesday, the worst of the storm was over, with temperatures in the low 20s. However, there’s still a 60 per cent chance of showers – and a risk of thunderstorm.
