Man Powered Flying Machine Takes Off At University Of Toronto

A man-powered flying machine has taken off at the University of Toronto.

While the aircraft needs a tow to get started, it’s eventually powered by the pilot, who pumps a bar with his feet. That causes the wings of the ornithopter to flap.

The school’s Institute for Aerospace Studies dubbed the aircraft “Snowbird.” On August 2, it flew for 19 seconds.
