Actress Gloria Stuart dead at 100

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Gloria Stuart, whose Hollywood career began in the 1930’s but did not peak until she was 87, has died at the age of 100.

Her grandson, Benjamin Stuart Thompson, says Stuart died in her sleep Sunday night at her Los Angeles home.

In her youth, Stuart was a blond beauty who starred in B pictures as well as higher-profile ones like “The Invisible Man” and two Shirley Temple movies.

However, she was finally noticed when she starred in Titanic as the older Rose, with the younger version being played by Kate Winslet. She was nominated for an Oscar, but did not win.

The actress was also a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild, as well as an accomplished artist.
