New Canadians spending more than anticipated in Canada

OTTAWA, Ont. – New Canadians are spending a lot more than they thought they would to live in this country, according to a new survey.

The poll, conducted by Environics Research Group, found 41 per cent of respondents having a more difficult time managing their finances than they expected before arriving in Canada, over the past 10 years.

The study showed that a third of new Canadians adjusted by living more modestly than they did before they arrived here.

Another 20 per cent said they took on extra jobs to help them pay the bills.

The survey was conducted in August for Royal Bank.
