Ford unveils his fiscal plan on YouTube

TORONTO, Ont. – Mayoral front-runner Rob Ford unveiled his fiscal plan on YouTube late Monday night.

In the video, Ford said he plans to cut city council in half.

“Toronto has 22 federal MPs, 22 provincial MPPs and 22 public school trustees. It should have 22 city councillors,” Ford said in the video.

He claims this plan would save the city $2.8-billion in only four years.

It was almost midnight when Ford released his fiscal platform.

He said Toronto’s government has grown bloated and wasteful, and that in the past seven years, politicians have raised taxes instead of managing effectively.

“It’s time to stop the gravy train that provides luxuries and perks to politicians and rich contracts to their friends,” Ford said.

The only candidate to react so far has been Rocco Rossi, who put out a statement that said: “Ford’s so-called fiscal plan was released under the cover of darkness on a rainy Monday night.” And so, has questioned what Ford has to hide.
