Man Dead In Whitby Crash

A man is dead and other is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police were called to the scene of a two-car collision around 6:15am on September 29. It happened on Lakeridge Road, just north of Myrtle Road.

Police believe that the driver of a grey GMC Sonoma pick-up was heading north on Lakeridge Road when he crossed into the southbound lanes, hitting a red Ford pick-up head-on.

Both drivers were taken to St. Michael’s. A 23-year-old Bowmanville man was behind the wheel of the Sonoma. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other driver, a 64-year-old Greenbank man, remains in critical condition.

A passenger in the Sonoma, a 21-year-old man, is in hospital with injuries to his leg and is expected to recover.

The victim’s name is not being released.
