On September 28, Toronto mayoral race frontrunner Rob Ford spoke at The Empire Club on the subject of accountability at City Hall. In an exclusive pre-speech chat with The Mark‘s Politics Editor, Alex Derry, Ford elaborated on his vision for a “clean” Toronto. He also spoke about Marcus Gee’s recent column in the Globe and Mail disputing his campaign’s stance on tax rates and the city budget, defended his new economic platform’s proposal to replace only half of retiring city employees, and described how he would have handled the aftermath of the Wellesley St. fire that left over a thousand people homeless.
