Report: Toronto Has Some Work To Do

There’s some good news, and some bad news released in the annual “Vital Signs Report,” prepared by the Toronto Community Foundation.
It ranks Toronto as one of the most livable cities in the world, citing its diversity on the cultural, social and economic fronts.
But, the report also states the city is in dire need of more affordable housing and the public transit system is badly fractured.
TCF says many residents living in low income areas find themselves in a “food desert.” That’s an area with little to no access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
This has directly contributed to a startling statistic: the report says one out of every three Toronto children is considered obese.
Beyond healthcare, gridlock in the city of costing Toronto dearly. The report says traffic in Toronto alone costs the Canadian economy $5 billion every year.
