Cop on bike hit by motorcycle

A police officer was taken to hospital after being hit by a motorcycle while on a bicycle in the Queen and Beverly streets area, Wednesday.

It happened just before 6 p.m.

Sgt. Tim Burrows, with Toronto Traffic Services, said the motorcyclist lost control while changing lanes and fell off his bike before it hit the officer.

Streetcar tracks may also have been a factor in the accident, said Burrows.

The officer suffered from leg and back injuries.

Toronto Traffic Services wants to remind motorists it is a tricky time of year to be on the roads as it gets dark a lot sooner and roads can get slippery with wet leaves on the surface.
